The ES-339 P90 PRO was introduced around 2014 as a "pro" variation of the popular ES-339. While the standard ES-339 features humbuckers, this model was specifically designed for players seeking the raw, "growling" tone of P90 single-coil pickups in a more manageable frame. The upgraded P-90R PROā¢ and P-90T PROā¢ pickups were designed to replicate the original 1950s Gibson soapbar tones, offering a more vintage-accurate response than standard Epiphone P90s. Unlike the fully hollow Casino Coupe, the ES-339 P90 PRO has a solid maple centre block that drastically reduces high-volume feedback and adds sustain similar to a solid-body guitar, although the guitars typically weigh between 5 and 6 lbs, making them an excellent choice for long live performances. This specific P90 version was produced for a shorter window (roughly 2014ā2019) compared to the humbucker-equipped standard ES-339, making it slightly more niche on the used market.
