This guitar is part of Gibsonās Core Collection. The series was launched in 2019 to return the brand to its historical roots, abandoning modern weight-relief and push-pull switching in favour of vintage-correct specifications. The "Unburst" finish pays homage to vintage 1950s Les Pauls that originally featured a vibrant Cherry Sunburst finish: over decades of exposure to UV light and ambient conditions, the red pigment faded away entirely, leaving behind a soft, amber-to-honey-translucent gradient. The guitar features typical 60s appointments, such as a SlimTaper neck profile, silver-insert top-hat knobs, kidney-button Grover tuners, and Alnico 5 Burstbucker 61 pickups. Unlike models from the 2000s and 2010s that utilized chambering or Swiss-cheese routing, this guitar features a completely solid mahogany body, resulting in a heavier weight but offering traditional sustain.
