Comments:

Back in 2000 the Les Paul Standard was the flagship model of the Gibson USA catalog. This era represents the latter half of the "Good Wood Era" (roughly 1990–2001), highly regarded by players for its heavy, high-quality, solid mahogany blanks and thick premium rosewood fretboards before major factory specification updates occurred in 2002. This model retains the traditional, vintage-style small headstock footprint and a heavier body profile compared to the heavily revamped, chambered, or asymmetrical necks introduced to the Standard lineup starting in late 2002. Standard models from this specific month shipped with traditional, high-output Gibson Alnico magnet humbuckers rather than the BurstBucker or Custombucker series used in later years.
