Comments:
The Gibson ES-335 was the world's first commercially available semi-hollowbody electric guitar, designed by Ted McCarty to combat feedback with a solid maple center block running through the body. The 1960 models, which this model replicates, are known for transitioning to a faster, thinner neck profile mid-year. This 2012 VOS reissue was part of a run produced by the Gibson Memphis Custom Shop (which operated from 2000 to 2019) to meticulously recreate vintage instruments. This specific model is highly regarded for its period-correct features. The Vintage Original Spec (VOS) finish is a hand-finished nitrocellulose lacquer that is lightly aged to replicate the patina of a well-preserved fifty-year-old instrument, giving it a semi-satin texture. A historically accurate long neck tenon joint enhances sustain and neck strength, and the guitar is equipped with unpotted Custombucker Alnico III pickups, designed to faithfully replicate the tone of original "PAF" (Patent Applied For) humbuckers.
