Introduced in 1968, the D-25 was originally conceived as an affordable, no-frills acoustic guitar for gigging musicians. By the time production ceased around 2001, it had become the best-selling model in Guild's history. The most defining historical characteristic of the 1990s D-25 is its arched laminate mahogany back, giving it substantially more volume than its predecessors. Westerly-era Guilds are universally famous in the guitar community for being over-engineered. They feature heavy-duty builds and thick finishes that make them incredibly durable compared to more delicate acoustics from the same era.
