The 000-15S is an all-solid acoustic guitar part of Martin's highly regarded 15 Series, which initially originated during the Great Depression in the late 1930s as a budget-conscious line of simple, unadorned instruments. The modern iteration of the 15 Series was revived in the late 1990s. The "S" designation denotes a 12-fret neck-to-body joint combined with a slotted headstock and an elongated, sloped-shoulder body outline. Unlike some other entry-tier 15-series models of that era which utilized either sapele or mahogany, the 000-15S was strictly specified with solid mahogany. The model was eventually phased out around 2009–2011 when Martin replaced it with the 15M series.
