While Martin began rolling out "Reimagined" changes to certain models in late 2017, the 000-28 did not officially transition to the new specs (which include herringbone purfling and scalloped bracing) until January 2018. As a 2017 model without herringbone, this guitar features the traditional Standard Series appointments that defined the model for decades, known for a more "balanced" and "focused" sound compared to the boomier 2018 version. It is one of the last of its kind before Martin changed the fundamental bracing and aesthetic of the entire Standard Series. Many players specifically seek out these pre-2018 models for their specific neck feel and tonal "punchā.
