This Yamaha SA-50 is a fully hollow body electric guitar produced in the Japan factory (Nippon Gakki) in 1972. The SA-50 model was launched in 1967 and was an innovative, original Yamaha design that did not directly copy American models. It featured a charming asymmetrical double-cutaway body and internal baffles to reduce feedback. This sunburst finish instrument is noted for its unique tone derived from two covered pickups, often described as having a P-90 character with a Strat-like attack and ES-335 body, thanks to its maple body and neck construction.Ā
